Watering
|
| |
Water
is critical to the health and vibrancy of your new turf. For
the first 2 weeks after installation, water your lawn 4-5 times
a day, avoiding run off and pooling. After 2 weeks, water your
lawn every other day. The following watering schedules will
keep your new lawn as green as it can be.

Mowing
|
| |
Begin
mowing your lawn 2 weeks after installation or once the root
system has attached to the soil. Your lawn should be mowed once
a week. It is best to cut no more than 1/3
of the total height, keeping the grass about 1 inch. Allowing
your lawn to grow tall and then cutting it short can damage
the plant.

Fertilizing
|
| |
When
your lawn is properly fertilized, good density and deep color
will be maintained. You will also strengthen the plant, protecting
your lawn from drought, disease, and weeds. Use the chart below
to provide the right nutrients at the right time.

The
N-P-K analysis on your fertilizer is the ratio of Nitrogen content
(N), phosphorous content (P), and Potassium content (K). These
are the ideal analyses for your lawn; however fertilizers with
a similar ratio will also strengthen your turf and liven up
its color. Always follow the instructions for application that
are on the bag.

Seasonal
Transitions:
|
| |
Grass
will go dormant during the winter months, but you can have a
lush, green lawn year round with ease! Follow these transitional
tips for a beautiful summer and winter lawn.
|
|
Fall
Transition:
|
|
Once
evenings are below 65 it is time to plant your winter rye grass. |
|
Mow
your grass to a height of ½ inch |
|
Spread
perennial rye seed by following the guidelines on the bag |
|
Spread
¼ inch of mulch or manure, or 2 cubic feet per 100 square
feet |
|
Fertilize
with a 16-20-20 or a similar analysis |
|
Water
for about 15 minutes 3 to 4 times daily until the rye begins to
grow |
|
Resume
regular watering and mowing |
|
Spring
Transition:
|
|
Once
evenings are regularly above 65 begin transitioning your lawn
to hybrid summer grass. |
|
Mow
your grass to a height of ½ inch |
|
Do
not water your lawn for about 5 days, this stresses the rye grass
and allows the hybrid turf to take over. |
|
Fertilize
with 21-7-14 or a similar analysis
